What is the Point?
This morning I started my day by going through my emails. It's Monday so there are a lot of them and I'm already swamped before I've finished my first cup of coffee. Which is why I was just incredibly annoyed to get this email from a job seeker who has obviously given very little thought either to the content of her email or to the recipient's needs:
"Good morning,
I am very interested in seeking a position with a Manhattan based organisation (Leadership and People Development) and enclose my Curriculum Vitae for your consideration.
I look forward to hearing from you..."
OK, first I'm not in Manhattan. Second, what do I care what you're looking for? No offense to this lady, who may be very nice, but I have my own problems and I don't even know her. Third, she has told me nothing about herself or what she has to offer my company. Fourth she hasn't even bothered to disguise the fact that this is a mass email - she even sent it to herself and blind cc'd me along with hundreds of other people no doubt.
Needless to say, I didn't look at her resume and I won't be contacting her. I truly hope this is not her only job search strategy.
I'm Louise Fletcher. As President of

I get emails like this all the time, being a recruitment consultant. The worst thing when you open a CV and it hasn't been customised to the job or market they are interested in. An example, I got an email from someone applying for an office job, and in the start of the CV, it says "Im interested in gaining employment in Retail"?. People need to put more thought into their job search. I have written an e-book called "Interview for success" which can be found at http://chillistaffingsolutions.com/Interview-for-Success.php which helps job seekers prepare themselves for interviews and job hunting.

Hi
I had to smile (when I read this article) as I often get similar emails. I own a small UK focussed Accounting website, and recently received an email asking if I "could help finding a job for a Pilot in South Africa" ...
