Insightful post from Seth Godin about how companies could do a better job of finding the right people if they tried to be distinctive rather than just another commodity - albeit one that's getting lots of attention via a video or other creative, cutting-edge promotion.
Similarly, job seekers who are determined to share their distinctive, authentic selves in their resumes etc. and in interviews - rather than trying simply to match the right words and get in the queue with all the other similar job-seekers - will be much more successful at finding the right job with the right organization.
Sure, it takes time and it takes work. But you're not a commodity to be slotted into the next organizational opening. Don't subvert your message just to get noticed or considered. Share what makes you different, unique, and valuable! You'll easily distance yourself from the pack when the right opportunity and organization come along.
